Ken always listens, he is never judgmental if I have done something stupid or asked a silly question, which means I always feel I can ask if I don't understand something.
He shows that he cares what happens to me.
He doesn't just do his job and walk away, he is totally committed to it.
He sees sights which most of us would show a shocked reaction to but he doesn't and so the patient isn't embarrassed by how they look.
When one is vulnerable one needs someone or something to hold onto that they can trust and that will always be there for them......that is Ken......he has seen me at my worst and hopefully now at my best.
However when I heard recently he was retiring next year I realised that Ken had become a lifeline to me and was scared what would happen after that.
The NHS needs to value Macmillan nurses like Ken because they don't boast about what they do but they are vital to the patients they deal with.
Thank you for such positive feedback. It is encouraging to receive and helps to further develop my services
Prompt and positive response to concern I had after recent procedure where packing for a wound had come adrift. He spoke to the doctor involved and arranged for the matter to be rectified within a short time and he also assisted the doctor doing it in a friendly efficient manner. Lovely rapport.
Thank you for your positive and helpful feedback
Ken has been very helpful and supportive from the first day we met him and with the ongoing treatment plan. We feel very confident as we know we have someone we can call and have our questions, concerns answered.
Thank you Ken for all your help.
Thank you for such positive feedback. It is always my aim to 'be there' for my patients
I have been so impressed at having a responsive contact within the NHS who addressed my personal questions and concerns directly and responsively. It really makes a huge difference when on a cancer pathway; this is the second time for me and the first time (20 years ago) I had no support to ask questions and seeking information. I am very impressed at the NHS funding these posts as they make a huge difference to people in my position.
Thank you for the positive feedback. It is great to hear what a difference our support now makes.
Kenneth Day has been brilliant. I was diagnosed with thyroid cancer earlier this year and subsequently have had two operations to totally remove the thyroid. Ken has supported my partner and myself with respect and honesty. Cancer is an emotive diagnosis so sensitivity and excellent communication skills are vital for me as the patient. would thoroughly recommend Ken to anyone. Thank you.
